Project Summary: 

Partnership project with farmers on drained lowland fen peat through Environmental Stewardship scheme. Restoring wet grassland for breeding waders and associated farmland birds, protection of undesignated Mesolithic archaeology in the peat.
Restoration techniques incl. reseeding and regen on arable fields and improved pasture; seasonal rewetting and hydrological management; grazing, hay cutting; scrape creation and ditch restoration by re-profiling and raising ditch levels by sluices.
Challenges in re-wetting 'island' sites amongst intensively drained neighbouring farms.
